Desert Landforms
Desert landforms are unique shapes and structures created by the forces of nature in arid regions. Common features include dunes, which are mounds of sand formed by wind; mesas, which are flat-topped hills; and canyons, which are deep valleys carved by rivers. Erosion, caused by wind and occasional rain, shapes these landscapes over time. Deserts also feature rocky plateaus and dry lakeshores, reflecting their harsh, dry conditions. Understanding these landforms helps us appreciate the diverse environments and ecosystems found in desert regions worldwide.
