Sand sea
A sand sea is a large, expansive area covered predominantly by rolling dunes of loose, dry sand, often found in desert regions. Unlike regular deserts with sparse, stationary sand and rocky terrain, sand seas feature dynamic, shifting dunes shaped by wind. These areas can span thousands of square miles and may include various dune formations like crescent-shaped barchans or vast, flat plains called ergs. Sand seas influence local climate, navigation, and ecosystem patterns, making them unique and important geographic features within desert landscapes.
