density

Density refers to how much matter is packed into a given volume. It’s calculated by dividing mass (how much "stuff" there is) by volume (the space that stuff occupies). For example, if you have two objects of the same size, the one that feels heavier typically has a higher density. This concept helps explain why some things float in water while others sink; objects less dense than water will float, while those more dense will sink. Understanding density helps in various fields, from engineering to cooking, and even in understanding why certain materials behave as they do.
