Culte de la Raison
The Culte de la Raison, or Cult of Reason, was a revolutionary movement in France around 1793, during the French Revolution. It emerged as an attempt to replace traditional religion with a belief system centered on reason and Enlightenment ideals. Promoted by revolutionary leaders such as Maximilien Robespierre, it emphasized rational thought, scientific understanding, and the rejection of superstition. The movement sought to celebrate human capability and moral virtue through reason rather than faith. Ceremonies were held to honor the concept of reason, marking a significant shift in societal values during a period of profound change.
