Jacques Hébert

Jacques Hébert was a French journalist and politician during the French Revolution. He is best known for leading the radical Hébertists, a group advocating for extreme measures to achieve revolutionary ideals, including violence against enemies of the revolution. Hébert founded the newspaper "L'Impartial," which promoted his ideas. His beliefs emphasized equality and the overthrow of monarchy and aristocracy, but his uncompromising approach eventually led to his execution in 1794 during the Reign of Terror. Hébert played a significant role in shaping revolutionary politics, representing the more extreme faction seeking swift and drastic social change.
