Confederate States Army
The Confederate States Army was the military force of the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War, which lasted from 1861 to 1865. Formed by Southern states that seceded from the Union, the army fought to defend their right to maintain slavery and uphold states' rights. Major figures included General Robert E. Lee and General Stonewall Jackson. The Confederate Army engaged in numerous battles against Union forces but ultimately surrendered, leading to the end of the Civil War and the preservation of the Union. Its legacy remains a subject of significant historical debate.
