Clomiphene citrate
Clomiphene citrate is a medication often used to treat infertility in women who do not ovulate regularly. It works by stimulating the ovaries to produce eggs by blocking estrogen receptors in the brain, which tricks the body into thinking estrogen levels are low. This stimulates the release of hormones that encourage ovulation. Clomiphene is typically taken as a pill for several days early in the menstrual cycle. It’s considered a first-line treatment for women with ovulatory disorders and is usually well-tolerated, though some may experience side effects like hot flashes or mood swings.
