Circuit switching is a communication method where a dedicated communication path or circuit is established between two parties for the duration of their conversation. Imagine making a phone call: when you dial a number, a direct connection is created just for you and the person on the other end, allowing continuous communication without interruptions. This method is most commonly used in traditional telephone networks. While it ensures a reliable connection, it can be less efficient for data transmission since the circuit remains reserved even if no data is being sent, potentially wasting resources.
