Multiplexing techniques
Multiplexing is a technique that allows multiple signals or data streams to share the same communication channel without interference. Think of it as a highway where several cars (data streams) can travel simultaneously. Common types include Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), where time slots are allocated to each signal, and Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM), which assigns different frequency bands. This efficiency saves resources and increases capacity in networks, like in telecommunications or broadcasting, enabling more calls, data, or channels to operate at the same time without overlap.
