Optical Carrier
Optical Carrier (OC) refers to a set of standards for high-speed data transmission over fiber optic cables. It is used primarily in telecommunications to describe different levels of bandwidth and speed. Each OC level, such as OC-3 or OC-12, indicates a specific capacity for data transfer, measured in megabits or gigabits per second. Essentially, Optical Carrier networks allow for fast and reliable communication, which is essential for internet services, phone calls, and data sharing across long distances. The higher the OC level, the greater the amount of data that can be transmitted simultaneously.
