Change blindness
Change blindness is a psychological phenomenon where a person fails to notice significant changes in their visual environment. This can occur because our brains rely on specific cues and prior knowledge to focus on what we expect to see. When there are sudden changes, such as the shifting of an object or a face in a scene, our attention may not catch them, especially if we are distracted or the change happens during a visual interruption. This illustrates how our perception of reality can be limited and influenced by attention, leading us to overlook important details.
