attentional blink
Attentional blink is a phenomenon where a person fails to see a second target in a rapid sequence of visual stimuli, if it appears shortly after the first target. Imagine watching a quick slideshow of images: if two important images appear close together in time, you might only notice the first and miss the second. This occurs because our brain needs a brief moment to process the first image before it can focus on the next, leading to a temporary "blink" in attention. Essentially, the brain's resources get temporarily overloaded, and we lose the ability to perceive the second item.
