British Light Dragoons

British Light Dragoons were a type of cavalry in the British Army, primarily active from the 18th to 19th centuries. They were trained for fast movements and skirmishing tactics, typically fighting on horseback but dismounting to engage the enemy. Unlike heavy cavalry, which charged in large formations, light dragoons were more agile and often used for reconnaissance, raiding, and harassing enemy flanks. Their role evolved over time, with many units later becoming part of the British Armoured Corps. The term "dragoon" originally referred to mounted infantry soldiers, but light dragoons specialized in speed and agility on the battlefield.
