Book of the Dead

The Book of the Dead is an ancient Egyptian text that served as a guide for the deceased in the afterlife. It comprises a collection of spells, prayers, and incantations designed to help the soul navigate the challenges of the underworld, achieve moral judgment, and ultimately reach a peaceful existence in the afterlife. Often inscribed on papyrus and placed in tombs, it reflects ancient Egyptian beliefs about death, the afterlife, and the importance of living a virtuous life. The text evolved over time and was used from around 1550 BCE until the Roman period.
