The Book of Songs, also known as the "Shijing" or "Classic of Poetry," is an ancient Chinese anthology of poems and songs compiled around the 6th century BCE. It contains 305 works, reflecting the social, political, and cultural life of early Chinese society. The poems cover themes such as love, labor, rituals, and nature, serving as both a literary resource and a historical document. Valued for its artistic and philosophical richness, the Book of Songs is one of the Five Classics of Confucianism, influencing Chinese literature and thought for centuries.
