Qu Yuan

Qu Yuan was a celebrated Chinese poet and statesman from the Warring States period (approx. 340-278 BCE). Known for his patriotism and integrity, he served the state of Chu and expressed deep concern for his country's well-being through his poetry. When he was falsely accused and exiled, he famously mourned his homeland's decline and composed heartfelt poems. His legacy inspired the Dragon Boat Festival, during which people race boats and eat rice dumplings to honor his sacrifice and memory. Qu Yuan is remembered as a symbol of loyalty, patriotism, and poetic brilliance in Chinese culture.
