Biodiversity Treaty
The Biodiversity Treaty, formally known as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), is an international agreement aimed at ensuring the conservation of biodiversity, the sustainable use of biological resources, and the fair sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources. Established in 1992, it recognizes the importance of nature for human well-being and the need to protect ecosystems. Countries that are part of the treaty commit to taking steps to safeguard biodiversity, address the loss of species and habitats, and promote sustainable practices that balance environmental health with economic development.
