Battle of Varna
The Battle of Varna, fought on November 10, 1444, was a significant conflict between the forces of the Christian King Vladislav III of Poland and Hungary and the Ottoman Empire led by Sultan Murad II. It took place near Varna, on the Black Sea coast, as part of the wider struggle against Ottoman expansion in Eastern Europe. The Christian coalition aimed to stop Ottoman advances but suffered a decisive defeat. King Vladislav was killed, leading to increased Ottoman influence in the region and weakening Christian resistance in Southern and Eastern Europe for years to come.
