1444 Crusade
The 1444 Crusade was a failed military expedition launched by European Christian states aiming to regain control of the Holy Land from Muslim rulers. It was part of a series of religious wars during the Middle Ages, motivated by spiritual and territorial motives. The campaign faced logistical issues, political disagreements, and strong Muslim defenses, leading to its lack of success. Although less well-known than earlier Crusades, it reflects the continuing medieval desire to assert Christian dominance over Jerusalem and surrounding regions. Ultimately, the 1444 Crusade did not achieve its goals and marked a period of waning Crusader influence.
