Bahadur Shah II
Bahadur Shah II, also known as Bahadur Shah Zafar, was the last Mughal emperor of India, reigning from 1837 to 1857. He was primarily a symbolic ruler with limited political power, as the British East India Company controlled India. During the Indian Rebellion of 1857, he became a figurehead for the uprising, but the revolt was ultimately suppressed. After Britain took full control, he was tried and exiled to Burma (now Myanmar), where he lived the rest of his life. His story symbolizes the end of the Mughal dynasty and the transition from Mughal rule to British dominance in India.
