Anhydrobiosis

Anhydrobiosis is a survival strategy used by certain organisms, such as tardigrades and some nematodes, to endure extreme dehydration. During anhydrobiosis, these creatures lose almost all their water content and enter a dormant state. In this state, their metabolism nearly stops, allowing them to withstand extreme conditions like heat, cold, and radiation. When water becomes available again, they can rehydrate and return to their normal active state. This remarkable ability demonstrates how some life forms can adapt to harsh environments, highlighting the resilience of life on Earth.
