Anglo-Zulu War

The Anglo-Zulu War of 1879 was a conflict between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom in southern Africa. Britain aimed to expand its control, viewing the Zulu as a barrier to their interests. The war began with a surprising Zulu victory at the Battle of Isandlwana, where disciplined Zulu warriors overwhelmed British forces. However, Britain eventually organized a larger military effort, winning key battles such as Rorke’s Drift and ultimately defeating the Zulu. The war resulted in the annexation of the Zulu territory into British-controlled South Africa, significantly impacting the region’s history and indigenous sovereignty.
