Anglo-Egyptian Sudan

Anglo-Egyptian Sudan was a geopolitical entity established in the late 19th century, when British and Egyptian forces jointly controlled Sudan. It began after Britain defeated the Mahdist forces in 1898. Although it was officially administered by Egypt, the British exercised significant control, aiming to exploit Sudan's resources and maintain stability in the region. This arrangement lasted until Sudan gained independence in 1956. The period left a lasting impact on Sudan's political, social, and economic landscape, shaping the country’s future and its relations with both Britain and Egypt.
