Alexandria Lighthouse

The Lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built on the small island of Pharos in Egypt around 280 BC, it was a towering structure that guided sailors safely into the busy harbor of Alexandria. Standing approximately 100 meters tall, it was built with large blocks of stone and featured a mirror that reflected sunlight during the day and a fire at night to ensure its visibility. The lighthouse symbolized ancient engineering prowess and was an essential landmark until it was destroyed by earthquakes in the 14th century.
