African National Congress
The African National Congress (ANC) is a political party in South Africa, founded in 1912. It played a crucial role in the struggle against apartheid, a system of institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination that lasted from 1948 to the early 1990s. Led by figures like Nelson Mandela, the ANC fought for equality and democratic rights for all South Africans. After the end of apartheid, the ANC became the ruling party and has since focused on addressing social and economic disparities in the country, although it has faced challenges regarding governance and corruption in recent years.
