Abd al-Rahman III was a prominent Muslim ruler of Al-Andalus, the Muslim-ruled part of the Iberian Peninsula, during the 10th century. He became the first caliph of Córdoba, elevating his realm to great cultural and political heights. His reign (912–961) is noted for cultural flourishing, advancements in science, architecture, and literature, as well as for the establishment of a powerful and sophisticated administration. Abd al-Rahman III played a crucial role in unifying various factions within Al-Andalus and successfully defended his territory against Christian kingdoms, making him a key figure in medieval Spanish history.
