1947-48 Indo-Pakistani War

The 1947-48 Indo-Pakistani War was a conflict between India and Pakistan following the partition of British India into these two nations. The war began over the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, which both countries claimed. After Pakistan sent tribal militias to seize Kashmir, the Indian military intervened to support the Maharaja of Kashmir, who had sought India's help.
