
Weber-Fechner Law
The Weber-Fechner Law describes the relationship between the intensity of a stimulus and our perception of changes in that stimulus. Essentially, it states that the smallest noticeable difference in a stimulus (like light or sound) is proportional to the original intensity of that stimulus. For example, if you have a dim light and it gets a little brighter, you might notice that change easily. However, if the light is already very bright, it takes a much larger increase for you to notice a difference. This principle helps explain how we perceive changes in our environment.
