Gustav Fechner

Gustav Fechner was a German psychologist and philosopher who is considered one of the founders of psychophysics, a field that studies the relationship between physical stimuli and the sensations and perceptions they produce. He formulated laws that describe how changes in the intensity of a stimulus relate to changes in our perception of that stimulus. For example, his Fechner's Law suggests that our perception of a stimulus increases logarithmically rather than linearly as its intensity increases. This means that to notice a change in intensity, each increment must be proportionally larger as the stimulus grows stronger, influencing how we experience the world around us.
