Wars of the Roses

The Wars of the Roses was a series of civil wars in England from 1455 to 1487, fought between two rival branches of the royal House of Plantagenet: the Lancasters (symbolized by a red rose) and the Yorkists (symbolized by a white rose). The conflict arose over control of the English throne, marked by power struggles, political alliances, and battles. Key figures included King Henry VI, Edward IV, and Richard III. The wars ended when Henry Tudor, a Lancastrian, defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485, establishing the Tudor dynasty and bringing relative stability to England.
