Volcanic Lava Fountains

Volcanic lava fountains occur when magma within a volcano erupts explosively, shooting molten rock and gas high into the air. This happens when pressure builds up in the magma chamber below the surface, forcing lava out rapidly. As the lava escapes, it breaks into droplets and sprays outward, forming high arcs. The height and shape of these fountains can vary, depending on the gas content of the lava and the eruption's intensity. Lava fountains are often seen in volcanic eruptions like those at Kilauea in Hawaii and can create spectacular displays during an eruption.
