Vikramashila Monastery

Vikramashila Monastery was a prominent Buddhist educational center in ancient India, founded in the 8th century by King Dharmapala of the Pala dynasty. Located in present-day Bihar, it specialized in Tantric Buddhism and attracted scholars from across Asia. The monastery featured a grand architecture and housed various disciplines, including philosophy and texts on Buddhism. It was notable for its emphasis on debate and critical thinking. Vikramashila thrived until the 12th century, when it declined due to invasions. Today, it remains an important symbol of India's rich cultural and religious heritage.
