Vesicoureteral reflux

Vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is a condition where urine flows backward from the bladder into the ureters, which are the tubes connecting the kidneys to the bladder. Normally, urine moves in one direction, but if the valve between the bladder and ureters doesn’t work properly, this backward flow can happen. VUR can lead to urinary tract infections and kidney damage if not treated. It’s more common in children and can be diagnosed through imaging tests. Treatment options vary based on severity and may include monitoring, medications, or surgery to correct the problem.
