Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG)

A Voiding Cystourethrogram (VCUG) is a specialized X-ray test used to examine how the bladder and urethra function during urination. During the procedure, a thin tube (catheter) is inserted into the bladder, and contrast dye is filled into it. X-ray images are taken while the person urinates, allowing doctors to see if urine flows backward from the bladder into the kidneys or identify structural abnormalities. This test helps diagnose issues such as urinary reflux, blockages, or other problems affecting urinary health. It is minimally invasive and provides detailed information to guide treatment.
