Ur-Nammu

Ur-Nammu was a significant king of the ancient Sumerian city of Ur, ruling around 2112-2095 BCE. He is best known for creating one of the earliest legal codes, which aimed to ensure justice and order in society. This code set out specific laws and penalties, making it one of the first formal legal systems in history. Ur-Nammu also oversaw extensive building projects, including temples and ziggurats, and worked to improve agriculture and trade in his kingdom. His contributions greatly influenced subsequent civilizations in Mesopotamia and beyond.
