Upper Motor Neuron Syndrome

Upper Motor Neuron Syndrome occurs when the brain's signals to control voluntary movements are disrupted, usually due to damage in the brain or spinal cord. This condition can result in weakness or paralysis of muscles, increased muscle tone or stiffness, and exaggerated reflexes. People with this syndrome may experience difficulty with coordination and fine motor skills. Common causes include stroke, multiple sclerosis, or brain injuries. Essentially, it affects the pathways responsible for sending movement commands from the brain, leading to various motor impairments.
