Babinski sign
The Babinski sign is a reflex that occurs when the sole of the foot is stroked. Normally, in adults, the big toe bends downwards. However, if the big toe moves upward and the other toes fan out, this is called a positive Babinski sign. It indicates that there may be issues with the nervous system, particularly in the pathways connecting the brain and spinal cord. While it is normal in infants due to their developing nervous systems, a positive Babinski in adults can suggest neurological conditions or damage.
