United Progressive Alliance (UPA)

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is a coalition of center-left political parties in India, formed in 2004. It was led by the Indian National Congress (INC) and aimed to promote social justice, economic development, and inclusive policies. The UPA governed India from 2004 to 2014, implementing various reforms and welfare programs. Key achievements include the Right to Information Act and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The coalition faced challenges and criticism, especially for its handling of corruption issues. In 2014, it was succeeded by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) after losing in the general elections.
