Uganda Railway

The Uganda Railway, originally built between 1896 and 1901, was a pivotal infrastructure project connecting the port city of Mombasa in Kenya to Kisumu on Lake Victoria, and later extended to Uganda's capital, Kampala. Its primary purpose was to facilitate trade and transport goods, particularly from the interior of Africa to the coast. The railway played a significant role in the region's development but faced challenges, including harsh terrains and labor disputes, notably involving the recruitment of laborers from British India. Today, it remains a symbol of colonial ambition and its complex legacy in East Africa.
