Treaty of Köse Dağ
The Treaty of Köse Dağ, signed in 1243, was an agreement between the Seljuk Turks and the Mongol Empire. Following a decisive defeat of the Seljuks by the Mongols at the Battle of Köse Dağ, the treaty established Mongol suzerainty over the Seljuk Empire in Anatolia (modern-day Turkey). This meant that while the Seljuks continued to rule locally, they acknowledged Mongol authority and paid tribute to them. This treaty marked a significant shift in power in the region and facilitated the Mongolian influence over Anatolia for several decades, affecting local governance and paving the way for future political changes.
