Tratados de Córdoba
The Tratados de Córdoba, signed in 1821, were agreements marking the end of the Mexican War of Independence from Spanish rule. The negotiations took place in Córdoba, Veracruz, between Mexican insurgent leaders and Spanish officials. The treaties recognized Mexico's independence and established a constitutional monarchy, favoring the establishment of a legitimate government. However, the proposed monarchy never materialized, as Mexico ultimately adopted a republican government. These treaties were significant as they formalized the break from colonial authority, paving the way for Mexico's nationhood and subsequent political evolution.
