Total Solar Eclipse

A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun, completely blocking the Sun's light for a brief period. This phenomenon can only be seen from specific areas on Earth, within a narrow path of totality. During totality, the sky darkens, and stars may become visible, while temperatures may drop. The event usually lasts a few minutes. Total solar eclipses happen roughly every 18 months somewhere on Earth, but any given location may experience one only once every several decades or even centuries. Observing one can be a breathtaking experience.
