Thomas Fairfax

Thomas Fairfax (1612-1671) was a prominent English general during the English Civil War, leading the Parliamentarian forces against King Charles I. Known for his military skill and leadership, Fairfax played a crucial role in significant battles, including the pivotal Battle of Naseby in 1645. He was also instrumental in the formation of the New Model Army, which emphasized discipline and merit. After the war, he became disillusioned with the radical politics of the time, eventually resigning from military service.
