The International Space Station (ISS)

The International Space Station (ISS) is a large, orbiting laboratory located about 250 miles above Earth. Built through collaboration among multiple countries, it serves as a research facility where astronauts conduct experiments in a microgravity environment. The ISS promotes international cooperation in science and technology while advancing our understanding of space, biology, and physics. It travels around the Earth approximately every 90 minutes, allowing crew members to experience 16 sunrises and sunsets each day. The station plays a key role in preparing for future missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
