The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Model
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic approach designed primarily for individuals with emotional regulation issues, such as those with borderline personality disorder. It combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. DBT focuses on balancing acceptance and change, teaching skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. The goal is to help individuals understand and accept their emotions while also working towards meaningful change in their behavior and relationships. Through individual therapy and group skills training, DBT fosters resilience and healthier coping mechanisms.
