Texcoco (city)
Texcoco was an important city in ancient Mexico, part of the Aztec Empire located near present-day Mexico City. It was situated on the shores of Lake Texcoco and served as a cultural and political hub. Texcoco was known for its advanced society, rich education, and contributions to art and literature. It was the seat of a powerful ruler, Nezahualcóyotl, who was both a poet and philosopher. The city played a significant role in the formation of the Triple Alliance with Tenochtitlan and Tlacopan, which led to the expansion of the Aztec Empire in the 15th century.
