Suriname is a small country located on the northeastern coast of South America, bordered by Brazil, Guyana, French Guiana, and the Atlantic Ocean. Known for its rich cultural diversity, it has a mix of people from African, Indian, indigenous, and European backgrounds. The country features lush rainforests, rivers, and a tropical climate. Its economy largely depends on natural resources like bauxite (for aluminum), gold, and oil. Suriname is English-speaking officially but also recognizes several other languages. It gained independence from the Netherlands in 1975 and is governed as a parliamentary democracy.
