Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO)
The Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) is a regional alliance formed by eight countries in the Amazon Basin: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Established in 1995, its main goal is to promote sustainable development, protect the environment, and preserve the natural resources of the Amazon rainforest. The organization serves as a platform for these nations to collaborate on issues like conservation, biodiversity, and combating deforestation, recognizing the importance of the Amazon as a vital ecological and cultural resource for the entire planet.
