Super-Kamiokande

Super-Kamiokande is a large underground neutrino observatory located in Japan. It consists of a massive water tank, filled with ultra-pure water and surrounded by thousands of light sensors. Its primary purpose is to detect neutrinos, elusive particles that rarely interact with matter. By observing the faint light produced when neutrinos collide with water molecules, scientists can study fundamental questions about the universe, such as the properties of neutrinos and the processes occurring in stars. This facility has contributed significantly to our understanding of particle physics and cosmology.
