Sunga Dynasty
The Sunga Dynasty was an ancient Indian royal family that ruled from around 185 BCE to 73 BCE, following the fall of the Maurya Empire. Established by Pushyamitra Sunga, a military general, the dynasty is known for its promotion of Hindu culture and political stability after a period of decline. The Sungas also supported the arts and literature, contributing to the development of Indian civilization, particularly in regions like Magadha. Their rule saw the revival of Brahmanical traditions and the decline of Buddhism's earlier dominance, marking an important transition in India's cultural landscape.
